About

How Yowie Art Started.

All my life, I have been interested in some kind of Art.
Life has had many fantastic moments to remember.
One fantastic moment was, at the age of 9, I was on School Holidays. My Birthday always occurred during the May Holidays. Staying with my Grandmother in Cooparoo, Brisbane, she wanted me to have a nice Birthday Present. So we went into the City for a daytime Movie and to buy a present for me.
I asked for, what every country kid wanted, a u-beaut pocket-knife, and I got one.
Granny setup the Gas Water Heater for me to have a bath, and when ready, I hopped into the water and grabbed the soap, then thought 'Wow, this would be easy to carve'. So, with the new pocket-knife, I carved a horse.
But, being too quiet for too long, Granny came in to see what I was doing. I panicked and hid the soap under the water. Granny saw my guilty look and asked what I had in my hand under all the bubbles. Sheepishly, I raised the carved soap and hoped that I would survive the next few moments.
To my surprise, Granny's face lit up and she exclaimed, "What a lovely dog, you have carved, My Goodness! you are going to be a great artist one day".
Don't ya just love Grandmothers?
I have never forgotten that comment, even though it was meant to be a horse, I went along with the dog theory.
The cake of soap went on display for all visitors to see, over the coming years. Eventually it kinda cracked-up.

That, my friends, started something within me, although during the coming years I never leaned towards more artistic activity, only an appreciation, love and admiration of the Arts.
Nowadays, I believe that every retiree should have a hobby.
Therefore, I tried a few hobbies like, Ceramics, Candle-making and, finally, Sublimation Printing.
I love all three, but the latter is the most interesting and satisfying hobby of them all.
Near Sydney, I found a great person and a great supplier, who helped me beyond the call of duty. Nowadays, we are great friends.

I accumulated so many items and needed some money to continue my hobby, so I began selling work that I finished to people around the area.
Then started going to Markets. The markets were not very profitable, most times only just made costs.
The markets, more or less, became a nice day's outing and meeting some nice people.

Future Hopes
Well, I have read and seen so many stories of average people making a fortune with an idea on the web.
Webpages that earns an income for them.

I have been on the Disability Pension and now the Aged Pension.
My hope is to earn enough to get off the pension.
Ever since Social Security forced me onto
an aged Pension I have been embarrassed and feel that I should be able to stand on my own two feet.
To waylay these feelings, I have constantly worked as a volunteer, so I could give something back
to the people that are providing me with a respectable existence.
First, The Salvation Army Store, then Lions Club of Australia and now a Volunteer Driver for Graham House Community Transport
for the past 4+ years.
Even if I won Lotto, I will still continue to voluntary drive for this most worthy and needed Service.

An Invitation.

If you are a person in the same boat, as I have described, and have a yen for art, computing, photography and/or digital designing, t
hen you might like to join me and hopefully we can get off this penson instead of scraping and saving just to make a few normal ends meet.

Let's team-up and show Australians that we are not as old as they make us feel.
Maybe, you would like to join a group of Senior Artists?
Then why don't we all join forces and work towards a common goal.

This is an Invitation.
